In what appears to be a frenzy and desperate move by the president of UFC – Dana White due to the Coronavirus outbreak which completely altered the earlier plan by the UFC organization to hold UFC 249 in New York City on April 18th, the event it has been confirmed will now hold on a yet to be disclosed private Island that is about to be secured completely by the UFC organization. According to the reports by the TMZ Sports, White stated thus; “we are getting the infrastructure put in now so I’m going to start doing the international fights too”. White also added that only healthy athletes will be competing on the Island which will be shielded from the fans with ESPN granted the exclusive right to stream the fight live. According to White, a handful members of the media will be granted access to cover the event(s), while one feels it is quite comical and weird that even the fighters won’t know where they are heading to after departing from the UFC’s special congregation base until they get to the said mysterious private Island.
Further on UFC 249, White admitted that it was challenging to find a replacement in the person of Justin Gaethje for Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was earlier scheduled to face Tony Ferguson in defence of his lightweight title but decided to return to Russia because of the COVID -19 pandemic. Though, Ferguson was not happy about Nurmagomedov’s decision, but in a show of magnanimity and understanding, White believes that it is not Nurmagomedov’s fault as the world is presently in turmoil because of the outbreak of COVID – 19 pandemic. We sincerely wish Dana White the best as he’s currently wrapping things up in order to host the fight. But quick questions for the readers here; can you possibly guess the location of the mysterious private Island? Would it be in South America or Central America? Or do you think White should not have come up with the idea of holding this fight at all given the danger associated with the outbreak of COVID – 19 pandemic that is currently ravaging the world?
