Sevilla of Spain was crowned the Europa League champions on Friday, August 21st, 2020, after defeating Inter Milan of Italy 3- 2 in Cologne, in a very competitive final match that was full of twists and turns. The drama centred around two actors known as Diego Carlos and Romelu Lukaku. Diego Carlos – the Sevilla’s defender hacked down Romelu Lukaku – the Inter Milan’s striker just in the fourth minute of play and the efficient striker coolly converted from the spot kick. But in few minutes later, Luuk de Jong equalised with a header to be followed by another header again in the 33rd minute to give Sevilla a 2 – 1 goal advantage. The drama continued when Diego Carlos decided to go on a vacation by not closing down Diego Godin of Inter Milan who seized the golden opportunity and scored an equalizer with a header for Inter Milan.

The decisive moment of the keenly contested final match came in the 74th minute when the villain – Diego Carlos took a beautiful bicycle kick that Romelu Lukaku deflected accidentally into his own net to the advantage of Sevilla of Spain. Though, Romelu Lukaku made the grave mistake that caused his team the final match, but the powerful striker still made history having scored in 11 Europa League games, while his 34 goals across all competitions for Inter Milan this season is a record for the most goals scored by any Inter Milan player in a single season. Congratulations to Sevilla for winning the Europa League title for the sixth time since 2006. The question then is; do you believe Sevilla can repeat this achievement next season with some very eager and hungry teams like Arsenal coming into the fray?
