The 31-year-old Gareth Bale re-joined Tottenham Hotspur FC on a season long loan on Friday, September 18, 2020. We will recall that Bale left Tottenham in 2013 for Real Madrid to join forces with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo in what was widely regarded then as the world – record transfer fee of 89.5 million pounds. It is remarkable to note that the 7 years sojourn of Bale in Real Madrid was a huge success as he won a total of 13 trophies with the club; two La Liga titles, four Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, three FIFA Club World Cups, one Copa Del Rey and one Spanish Super Cup. Apart from this, Bale also scored a total of 105 goals in 251 games across all competitions.
The reason for Bale’s departure according to the rumours making the rounds could be linked to his sour relationship with the coach – Zinedine Zidane who seems to believe he’s surplus to requirement as he fielded him to start just a paltry 14 matches last season. With Bale’s loan move to Tottenham, one thing that is still not clear is whether he’ll be compelled to slash his 600,000 pounds – a – week contract or whether Tottenham will part pay his huge weekly wage. Well! We wish Gareth Bale the best of luck in Tottenham while one could only hope he’ll rejuvenate his career in his new club. Having said that, do you believe the arrival of Bale could be a catalyst for Tottenham Hotspur to finish in the top four this season?
